ARAHURA VALLEY MEETING. •The first meeting' of the year of-the above institute bwas" presided over byMrs 1 R. Bradley at the One Mile Hall oh Wednesday last. The meeting was opened with the Institute song; Tin motto for the month was, “And now with purposes full clear we turn to greet another year,” and the roll call was responded to by, “The career I should choose if I were choosing again.” In the scone competition, Mrs Edwards was Ist, Mrs Hewlett 2nd, and Mesdames Harcourt and Martin 3rd The best bloom was won by Mrs Clarki (dahlia) Ist, Mrs ,f, Bradley (aster) 2nd, Mrs Harcourt (sweet pea) 3rd. , ; On February 2, the .annual picnic, was held at Grpymouth, the, day, praying warm and enjoypbLn ~ A car competition was. won by. Mrs Dalgleesli, in a draw , with Mesdames, Edwards find Wi%m." . Another competition of .sight-seeing was won by Mrs, Edwards. Play-reading and . , nnisir were indulged in, and a pleasant ptternpon. was spent. There . was also .a . spies table in evidence. _ . . !The hostesses.for the.afternoon were Mesdames Harcourt and'Bradley.
