Tlu* result of the nautksa'l inquiry into 'Jlu* stranding of the trawier Muriel on the Sumner barkwas made available by the Minister for Marine (the Hon. P. Eraser) to-day. The Court comprised Mr M. A. 'Young, S.M., with Captain ,J. F. Crawford and Captain A. R. Pryde. Its decision is as follows: - “The Court, having carefully inquired into the circumstances attending the casualty, find that the casualty was contributed to by an error of judgment on tin! part of the master in that he should either have stopped Ale vessel, taken soundings, and waited for the fog to lift, or should have ultem. his course well to the eastward in order to pick up the fog signal at Godley Head.” 'the Court ordered the master (Captain W. Stephens) lo pay 10 guineas t. wards the costs of the inquiry.
