A DENIAL
OF NEW GUNEA OIL FIND (Australian Press Association). CANBERRA, September 14. The Prime Minister, Rt. Hon J. A. •Lyons, in the House of Representatives, to-day declared that payable oil had not been discovered in Dutch New Guinea, nor in the Commonwealth Mandated Territory.
Air Lyons’ statement was made in reply to a suggestion by a Labour member. Air Ward, on Saturday last that the Government had suppressed a discovery of oil in New Guinea and that it had also given information of a discovery to a private, company, which bad recently begun operations on the Stock Exchange.
