There was picturesque traditional ceremony at Holyrood House, when laird of Crawford and Cousin‘Crawford presented the King with a basin of water as rent for the lands granted their ancestors by Janies V. The Queen made her first public speech, when acknowledging the conferment of the Honourable Doctor of, Edinburgh University.
