ALLEGED THEFT

Lindsay,, aged 43. married, was charged at. the "Rolf lice Court to-day with stealing .sums of money totalling £6O 16s 7d, the pro} perty of the Union, -j •. '
The President of the Union, Arthur Belh gave evidence that till June 1936 j Lindsay, was 5 employed as :and from then until February 1937, was employed ! as acting secretary at £p weekly,- and until May. last as seef .rotary at- £6 weekly: . \ Wtiness detailed the payments made by him to Lindsay, which were nofj entered in the books. Evidence of irregularities disclosed by the hooks were given by the office assistant, Dorothy McKenzie, these including the use of a printed duplicate of the office rcr ceipt - book.. The police said when arrested at Ruatahuna, Lindsay made a .statement admitting the : theft. Accused, pleaded • quilty and was committed to, the .Supreme Court for sentence.
