IN PALESTINE
REPORT PROPOSAL > DIVISION INTO TWO STATES. (Per British Official Wireless.) . (Received this day at 1.30 p.m.) RUGBY, July 7. The” Palestine Boyal Commission’s report proposes the partitioning of Palestine into two sovereign, independent States. One to be an Arab State consisting of trans-Jordan, united with that part of Palestine which lies to the east and south of the suggested frontier, and the other a Jew-, ish State consisting of that part of Palestine lying to the north and west of that frontier. In addition, it recommends a new mandate for holy places which will be unique in character and purpose, ensuring free safe access to them -for the whole world.
The British Government in a policy statement# issued with the report, agrees with the Commission’s finding as the most hopeful solution of the deadlock.
