£250 DAMAGES CLAIM. (Per Pieas Association.—-Copyright). WELLINGTON; June 11. Judge Smith gave judgment for 1 plaintiff, Walter Smart; in an action Drought by Smart against Arthur Edmond Preston, junr., claiming £250 damages in respect of the purchase of a Captain Bunsby—Lubrication gelding. The Judge held that Smart made the purchase, relying on defendant's judgment. The horse was unsound at the time, and was not fitted for racing. CARRIER GAOLED. WELLINGTON, June U. Certified as being unfit not only to drive, but unfit to walk, William Alexander Morris, 65, carrier, was sent to gaol for a month, by MrE.D. Mosley S.M. Mr Mosley remarked that he was loath to send the man to gaol, but he had no money to pay a fine. Counsel said that Morris was at present on sustenance. ,He had casual gardening jobs, for which he used his truck. A list of convictions, read, by the Magistrate, showed driving offences' since 1923. Morris was prevented from obtaining another driving license till 1939. £l6 FINES IMPOSED. WELLINGTON, June 11. Fines totalling £l6, with costs, were imposed to-day on William John Loro, who was charged with failing to furnish a declaration - of income other than salary and wages, and with mailing default in payment of the unemployment levy, four charges.
