Reserve Bank figures this week is o reduction of £1,417,900 in the sterling exchange holding of the bank. The dairy account b-lance shows an increase of £112,200, and other assets ah increase of £16,100. The note issue •has decreased by £105,800. Demand liabilities to the State have increased bv £342,600, but those to the banks have fallen by £1,557,600, and others by £148,900. The value of the.air mail service was recognised and appreciated by a visitor who arrived last evening from Christchurch. He forwarded a telegram* to his wife just before 8 o’clock last night, and it was delivered at- Nelson at 8.46 p.m. This morning at 10 o’clock he received a letter written after receipt of the telegram at Nelson last evening. It was a decidedly quick despatch that wag much appreciated.
