£SO FINE
ON GAMING CHARGE
(Per Press Association. —Copyright) WELLINGTON, May 17. John O’Connor, a labourer, aged 45, was fined £SO by Mr Stillwell ( S.M., for using bis premises as a common gaming house. The police said accused had taken a number of bets, and bad £2jC/18/- in his possession when arrested. Counsel said defendant had lost his right arm in the war and had difficulty in obtaining employment. This had driven him to break the law. The bets were only for 5/- or 10/-, and the money found was an accumulation over a period, as lie did not bank. He had not been before the court previously.
