FAIR RENTS ACT
AN UNFAIR OMISSION (Per Press Association—Copyrigh:). TE KTTITI, May 14. Comment that the Fair Rents Act was unfair in that it did not make any allowance for selling a property was made by Mr F. IT. Lovien, S-M., in the Te Kuiti Magistrate’s Court today, when Mrs A. Fergusson applied for possession of her house from ,1. A. 0. Higgins. The magistrate said a landlord had no chance of selling a house of tlie tenant was unfavourably inclined. However, the Act was law, said Mr 'Lovien, and it laid down definitely on what grounds a landlord was entitled to possession. After taking into consideration the question of relative hardship, he declined to make an order. The real reason of the landlord in trying to regain /possession was to facilitate the sale ol the house.
