MONTHLY MEETINO. The monthly meeting of the Executive Committee of the Hokitika R.S.A. was held last evening at the Hall. Present: Messrs .W. E. Brown (president), A. Samson, F. Ashley, C.- Hart, W. Lropp, P. R. Whitford, G. A. King, R. Milieu, F. McGregor, G. Gilchrist and R. Paterson (secretary). Minutes of the previous meeting and the special meeting were read and approved. The President extended a welcome to Mr Paterson of the Christchurch R.S.A. wkfo was present. Mr Paterson intimated his appreciation of the invitation. Outward correspondence as read was approved. A motion of appreciation to all who assisted by donations of vegetables, cash or other goods to the Paddy’s Market or who assisted in the sale of poppies was passed. Twenty-five new members were elected. A The question of continued grants to the Canteen Funds was discussed and a recommendation carried for submission to the annual meeting. It was decided to make out instructions for the guidance of the caretaker. The annual meeting was fixed for Saturday, 29th May. Alteration of rules as outlined for submission to the annual meeting were approved. Advice was received from the Hospital Board that it was regretted that no further benefits could be extended to ‘the hospital Agreement. —Received. It was decided to keep the matter in vi#w next year. A great deal of correspondence dealing with poppy sales, hospital agreement, and membership was dealt with and other matters of a routine nature were completed. , An invitation to the Brunner R.S.A. Reunion on Saturday next was received. v . . Forms for a grant for Imperial Soldiers in distress from a special poppy sale fund were received for distribution. Headquarters advised that Hokitika stood 24th on the Dominion ladder out of 88 branches with 306 members. The total for the Dominion stands at 28,626 an increase of nearly 2000. The secretary advised that the poppy sales for this year was £73/5- for the district an increase on previous years. The audited balance sheet of the Westland Advisory Committee of the National War Council was presented by the secretary (Mr P. R. Whitford) and approved by the committee. ' _ , Accounts amounting to i£l76-'/11/9 (including £l6B/7/0 for contract for hall) were passed for payment. The balance sheet for the Paddy’s Market showing a credit balance of £49/4/11 was*approved. A preliminary statement of the Birthday Banquet showing a deficit was also approved. Remits from headquarters for the annual conference were read and discussed. The question of a thorough cleaning of the hall was discussed and it was resolved to have the matter fixed by the employment of extra labour. The meeting terminated at T 0.30 p.m.
