PHASES OF THE MOON
UNION COMPANY’S LINE. The Ivaru is due at Greymouth towards the end of the week to again load timber for Petone, Wellington ami Miramar. The Kaimiro is loading coal at Greymouth for Wellington. The Kaimai is loading at Greymouth for Wellington, Waikokopu, Gisborne and Napier. A Union Company’s steamer is due at Greymouth about May 27' to load timber for Melbourne and Adelaide.
AWATEA’S OVERHAUL WELLINGTON. May 17. The Awatea will be withdrawn from the Tasman service at Sydney on May 22 for an overhaul, which will include a .number of - extensive improvements including a new type of gearing developed by builders since she was placed in commission. She is expected to be in commission again on July 30. Nine feet will be added to the height of her funnels, to increase efficiency, and clear smoke from the decks. The Maunganui will continue the Awatea’s service. She was busy this morning in the harbour adjusting her compasses.
