LONDON, November 9
The liner Queen Mary, when nearing Southampton, deviated from her course and is racing through a 90-mile-an-hour gale in response to an SOS from the German motor-ship Isis (4454 tons), 200 miles west of Land’s End.
The liner Western Land reached the position of the Isis and reported that no trace had been found. She is continuing the search for lifeboats.
The, )Isi s sent a wireless message at 6.15 p.m.: “Hatches stove in, preparing to abandon ship. Forecastle head under water.”
The Queen Mary has been fighting mountainous seas for three days during which Captain Peel had not left the bridge.

CABIN BOY ALONE SAVED

The motor ship, Isis, foundered, the only one of a crew of 40 to he rescued being a cabin boy, ,wbo was picked up by the W r esternland. He was too exhausted to tell what happened.
The liner Queen Mary was delayed by the search which resulted in the discovery of one empty boat. She Avill not arrive until Wednesday.
