* PRINCESS THEATRE. TO-NIGHT. TO-NIGHT. “HELL-SHIP MORGAN.’' George Bancroft is superb in the title role of the Columbia production, “Hell-Ship Morgaß,’’ which opens at the Princess Theatre to-night. Tie is seen as the stern master of the “Soßtjh'ern Cross,” who . brooks no opposition and thunders his way to victory in every conquest. Ann Sothern’s loveliness and histrionic: ability are outstanding, while Victor Jory t ,.giyes a noteworthy performance as the third member of a love,,triangle. The photography, especially of the .“Southern Cross” in storms at sea is remarkable, bringing the audience to a pitch of excitement time and as the sturdy vessel plunges through mountainous seas. D. Ross Lederman’s direction has helped materially to maintain the fast; and thrilling tempo of “Hell-Ship Morgan.” Howard Hickman, Ralph Byrd, George Regas, and Rollo Lloyd are outstanding in the. fine supporting cast. Also cartoon, and ■ Three Stooges comedy.

Ray,” the thrilling Universal drama of mystery, science and adventure which is now at the Regent Theatre- with Karloff and Bela Lugosi in' the starring roles. Many of - the scenes are laid in the jungle or Africa, site of the camps of a scientific expedition. The most picturesque Getting in this Ideation is’an enormous pit, overgrown with tangled tropical, vegetation 1 and created by the fall of a giant meteor impregnated with what is named Radium X, a hitherto unknown ele- ' ment a thousand times more, powerful than radium. Other scenes of particular interest depict a scientific laboratory, atop the Carpathian Mountains, equipped, with a great telescope afiu a newly invented contrivance by means of which unseen light rays are brought down from the heavens,, filling the +Pw' i ering glass .dome' of the building with an actual reproduction of any des>red constellation as it appeared million* or years ago. Suns and stars move in their orbits in a gleaming confusion of unearthly brilliance. The picture also, presents many interesting glimpses of Paris, where the story reaches its culmination sin a startling climax which i s literally hair-raising. The supporting cast includes Frances Drake, Frank T.awton, Beulah Bondi, Walter Kingsford and. Violet Kemble Cooper.
