HAMILTON, November 9.

An electrical storm of unusual intensity swept Waikato on Sunday afternoon, and torrential rain niid nail wmoi. fell caused flooding ami interference in various districts. The thunderstorm burst on Hamilton’ about one o’clock with exceptional violence, the deluge being accompanied by lightning;; and thunder. The- water, which found weaknesses in house and shop roofs, caused considerable damage in some instances. One shopkeeper estimated his loss at £350. During the storm hail fell, some of the stones being as large as' golf'balls. Faults, due to lightning, dislocated seventeen toll lines connected with the Hamilton exchange.

Although the total damage to stock in shops is not ascertained, it is estimated to be well over £IOOO. v The rainfall recording ih the town was 2.5 inches in one hour.
