General Graziani has received the submission of Ras Haiiu (and over fifty other Abyssinian chiefs. THE VICEROY’S PROMISE ADDTS ABABA, June 10. The Viceroy solemnly promised generosity towards the loyal and ruthlessuess towards the treacherous. ITALY AND SANCTIONS LONDON, June 10. “The Times” Rome correspondent reports as follows: Signor Mussolini’s surrender of the Foreign Office is regarded as being a wise move, since the new Foreign Minister, once Italy has emerged from' her state of isolation, will, presumably, represent Italy , at Geneva, and at other international conferences a broad, thereby giving an additional weight to the Italian, participation. It, therefore, is deduced that Signor Mussolini is now convinced that the repeal of the sanctions is imminent, that he is making ready to give all the force that he can to Italy’s resumption of her place among the other nations.
Count Ciano’s appointment as Foreign Minister is also probably intended as a symptom of the tension in Europe, though, of course, it will not deflect Italian foreign policy from any line which Signor Mussolini chooses to give it.
