THE MANUKAU SEAT (Per Press Association—Copyright). WELLINGTON, June 9. It was thought at first that "the departure toward the end of July of Mr W. J. Jordan, M.P. for Manukau, for Geneva, to represent New Zealand on the Assembly of the League of Nations, would necessitate a by-election in August ; but it is now felt to be desirable that Mr Jordan should remain a member of Parliament in order to give him improved status. This probably will mean that there will be no by-election until the end of the year, when Mr Jordan takes office as nigh Commissioner.
