SYDNEY, December 13

Fallowing a conference with offiinls of the Sydney Labour Council, a delegation from the seamen and tho two visiting representatives of the Australian Council of Trades Unions to-day recommended that all of the affiliated unions should provide financial assistance for the seamen strik-

ers. Further meetings of the executives of those unions likely to he affected by the strike will be held at Sydney and Melbourne on Monday. The delegates of the Australian Railways Union are assembling on Monday to discuss the strike and to formulate a policy in the event of its extension. In the meantime, no-overtures for a settlement of the strike are likely to be rniade. Pickets are patrolling the wharves and shipping offices. Although the shipowners report a slackening in the. number of qualified men offering for employment a sufficient number of men has been engaged for at least twelve freighters at three Australian ports. Their sailing is fixed for the week-end. The Seamen’s Union applied in the High Court to-day for an injunction against the Commonwealth Government, claiming that the Transport Workers’ Act and Regulations were ultra, vires of the constitution. liTr Justice Eva. ft before whom the mater was mentioned fixed the hearing oi the application for Monday before the Full High Court.
