WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
AT ARAHURA VALLEY.
The usual monthly meeting was presided over by Mrs R. Bradley on Wednesday last at the residence of Mrs 1 Martin. The usual business was transacted, and a number of calendars were disposed of in aid of the Federation funds and those of the Central Executive. Roll call took the fox-m of “The noise I dislike most”, and very amusing were some of the responses. A greetings message to all W.I. members from Mrs Bennitt of Owaka (a former member) was read, and the secretary was advised to return the compliment oil behalf of the Institute. In the needlework competition “best article” costing not more than 1/- suitable for a Christmas present, was won by Mrs W. Houston, a sandwich plat® doyley. At the instigation of the president, all members were asked to stand in silence for a short period as a mark of respect to the Finch family who have suffered a sad bereavement. A jumbled flower competition was carried out, which was won by Mrs W. Houston. Next meeting is to take place on Wednesday, February 12.
