"The Treasury revealed to-day a decline of'oyer 30 per cent, in the number of net incomes: of 1,000,000 ; dollars or more . between 1933 and 1934 in the .United States, namely, from»46 persons reporting, such, returns to 32, the to.tals being 81’559.000 dollars arid 56,659,000 respectively. The . taxes paid, .'however, by these persons ! , increased from .24,848,000 dollars in 1933 to 31,611;000 dollars in. 1934. The high; point of, the million-dollar incomes was reached in 1929, when there were 513 whose incomes totalled 1. <212,000,000 dollars,’.with; a tax payment of 191,000,000 dollars.
