King Selossie in a statement to
Havas’ Agency said Ethiopia after the
Paris conference meeting of the Committee of Five, accepted all concessions compatible with dignity tO avoid Italian aggression, which nevertheless was continued. We cannot yield to force. That would constitute a reward for violence.
LEAGUE SPLIT THREATENED
LONDON, December 12
The “Manchester Guardian’s” Geneva correspondent predicts a definite split among the members of the League in the next few days. He adds: Confidence among the smaller Powers has completely been undermined. There is even talk among some of their representatives of abandoning the sanctions policy. The Committee of Eighteen was to have met this morning, but the meeting was postponed until this afternoon, to enable preliminary discussions between M. Laval and Mr Eden and delegates of smaller Powers regarding procedure.

The phper “Pravtla” severely criticises the Anglo-French proposals, •declaring Abyssinia sacrificed to tue interests of the great Powers and virtually 'destroyed as an independent sovereign state. “Prada” gloomily views the outlook, saying that, if the League, instead of guarding .peace, transforms into a bureau lor awording premiums to aggressors, this means the death of the League.
