MEETING HELD LAST EVENING. The Hokitika Borough Council met ast evening where there were present he Mayor (Mr G. A. Ferry), and Crs. L\ W. Duff, J. King, H. L. Michel, E. eiohelinann, H. T. Parry, G. Heinz, C. L. Park. Apologies were received Tom Crs. A. R. Elcock and A.'Thomp.on. Hie Council was invited to attend a neeting in tin* town J lull on Monday •veiling in connection with the Health Tamp Campaign. The invitation was accepted.

Mr L. O. Hooker, organiser of the ampaign outlined details of the cam'aign. He sought permission for a street collection to be taken up and isked that a sum be set aside for the purchase of health stamps ,in support of the scheme.

Chesterman) reported as follows on work carried out; luring August. Britten Street footpath between Weld Street and Gibson’s Quay- was gravelled. Hampden Street footpath on the south side between Davie and Rolleston streets was cleaned and gravelled, also the section between Hall and Brittan Streets, and two chains in Sowell Street between Spencer and the north boundary. The footpaths in Boa ley Street on each side between Weid Street and Gibson’s Quay, and on the east side between -Stafford and Hampden Streets wore chipped. Water services were repaired in Fitzh'erbert Street, in Revell Street and at the corner of Bea U-y and Stafford Streets. A shed, 16ft bv Bff wa-s erected oil trie reserve adjoining the eastern boundary, over the bores recently put- down. The plant is now being- assembled to test the quantity of water in them. During the month u..rtv four Ift concrete pipes were made. A number of leaks were repaired about the town. The average depth of water in the reseroir was 6ft 9iu.
