BISHOP’S VISIT

CHURCH FAREWELLS VICAR 'flic Bishop of Christchurch, Bishop Campbell West-Watson, arrived, in [Hokitika yesterday afternoon, after having conducted services at Kumara, Stafford and Arahura. A confirmation service was held at All Saints’ Church last evening, when fourteen candidates were presented, eleven from Hokitika, and three from Koiterangi. There was a very large congregation, and the Bishop gave an inspiring sermon on “power, fellowship, and service.” At the conclusion of the service the congregation gathered in All Saints’ Hall to meet Bishop West-Watson, and to formally bid farewell to the Rev. and Mrs H. J. W. Knights, who leave next week for Rakaia. The Bishop referred to Mr Knights’ associations with him at the University in England, and spoke of hig work in this parish. Mr W. E. ißchards spoke on behalf of the congregation voicing regret at Mi* and Mi's Knights’ departure, and wishing them success in their future sphere. He icflllod on Mr J. B. Ward, who presented Ml’ and Mrs Knigths with two beautiful photographs of South Westland scenery. Mr Knights feelingy replied, thanking his parishioners for their assistance and co-operation, and expressing sincere regret at his coming departure.
