lovelock beaten in mile (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright). LONDON, July 13. There was a sensational result in, the mile race at the amateur athletic championships held at White City, when S. C. Woodorson, of the Blackheath Harriers, defeated the New- Zealander, J. E. Lovelock, in four, minutes 17 2-5 seconds. Lovelock’s time was 4.18 2-5.
Lovelock was well placed when halfway was reached. Wooderson, at the bell, dashed out. Lovelock delayed his sprint until the last bend. He failed to make any impression and he was beaten by three yards. His failure greatly disappointed the large crowd.
