DAIRY BOARD

OPERATIONS & POLICY REVIEW. (Per Pt«m Association, Copyright) GISBORNE, July 13. The operations and policy of the new Dairy Board were reviewed by the chairman (Mr Murdoch, M.P.) at the first ward conference held; by th# newly constituted body to-day.

Air Murdoch said that the hoard was working on sound lines, and mating good progress. He believed that arrangements for functioning under the Executive Commission would produce beneficial results to the industry.

There was need, he said, for a binding agreement, with Australia regarding; marketing. At present there was a gentleman’s agreement but Australia was not fully adhering to it, selling just when it suited. Overseas marketing would be fully discussed with the London manage* (Air Davis) who was expected to arrive jn New Zealand in about six weeks’ time, and would tour the Dominion in order that producers might be brought into direct touch with overseas problems.

Mr Murdoch added that the Board had found the local marketing question more involved than had been anticipated. Much information had been obtained in various centres, but no action would be taken until every aspect had been investigated.
