The fashionable Park Avenue was thrown into a turmoil to-day, when two detectives, with a cruising squad, in a ear, stopped four.' men who wore in an automobile. The detectives questioned the men on suspicion. Then one of the men readied for his gun. The detectives started firing, wounding . three of the men, and capturing the other one. One of those, wounded, when ho found that he was cornered and was unable to escape, committed suieido by shooting himself through t'To head. The four men were identified as escaped criminals. As the shots rieochetted against the buildings "along Park Avenut. the luncheon crowds rushed into the apartment foyers.
