HOKITIKA SITTING. TO-DAY'S CHARGES HEARD. The following cates • were dealt with before Mr H. Morgan, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court nif Hokitika to- • day. Wandering Stock, For permitting stock to wander William Jeffries was fined 10s and costs . 10s. .- -. . • Failure to Keep to Left. ■ Edwin Lewis was charged with failure to keep to the left while driving a motor vehicle, to which lie pleaded) guilty. Sergt. C. J. King said defendant was riding a motor cycle, and in endeavouring to pass a cyclist he collided with 1 another motor cyclist after swerving to the right. Both riders were injured, necessitating tlieir admission to hospital.

The Magistrate fined defendant £t 10s and costs,los. Maintenance Order Breach. Joseph Richard Hell was charged on , two counts' I 'witn* disobedience of his maintenance order in respect of Ins wife and children. Defendant admitted the arrears, but claimed inability to pay. The Magistrate said the position was very unsatisfactory. He sentenced ae-. fendant to fourteen days’ hard labour bn each charge, the sentence to lie suspended so long as he regularly paid the amount of tliq order, together with an amount off the arrears.
