N.Z. BOYS IN BYRD’S PARTY. (United Press Association —By Elect!ic Telegraph—Copyright) NEW YORK, July 11. Two New Zealand youths, Cecil Melrose, of Christchurch ; and Francis Smoothy. of Milton, who joined the Byrd expedition to see the world, are now facing a prospect of deportation to their homeland.

They will be deported unless the Byrd expedition’s management and others who are interested in the ease manage to secure for them a passage. For a time the pair enjoyed sightseeing in New York, but now their pay money is exhausted, and therefore they are anxious to return home.

The Brooklyn Young Men’s Chamber of Commerce and also the British Consulate are attempting to make arrangements to have them work their way home so as to prevent the. of deportation, which would involve their staying for some time on Ellis Island. Furthermore, it would prevent them from ever returning to America.
