N.S.W. CHAMPIONSHIP. {Australian Press Association). SYDNEY, July 8. The New South Wales State amateur golf championship to-day afforded a surprise when the Australian champion. T. S. Ale Kay, was beaten 4 and 3in the second round by L .E. Carter, who. in turn, was defeated 3 and 2 in the next round by S- A. Keane. The quarter-finalists are Kearne, AYhitton, Fcrrier, 1 lattersley. Af. Horfonl, W. Kole. T. Tanner and A. AYaterson. • * i Apperley was defeated in the third round bv Herford.
