DOUBLE MURDER
YOUNG COUPLE FOUND DEAD IN LONDON TRAIN. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received this day at 9.30 a.m.) LONDON, July 8. The discovery of a young couple lying dead in a midnight train, each with two bullet wounds in the heart, led to the surprising theory at the inquest at Southampton that the case might be murder by a third person. The couple were John Keyes, aged 24, a purser, and Emily Jarvis, aged 24, whom Keyes is reported to have wished to marry. She was engaged, and refused to give up her fiance. An automatic pistol was found in the compartment, also an undischarged' cartridge which did not fit the automatic.
The coroner said it was most extraordinary there should be two bullet wounds in each case.
“The shock of having a bullet in the heart must have been awful. I cannot see how a man could have the power to pull the trigger a second time.” The possibility of a person entering the train at Waterloo, and shooting the couple might be a mare’s nest; but it would be''necessary to adjourn the inquiries.'
