CEYLON MURDER
ENGLISH ENGINEER MALAY EX-EMPLOYEES’ ACT (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph— Copyright;. COLOMBO, July 7. Within a month of his retirement after 20 years’ service as chief of the harbour engineer’s department at 'Colombo, Mi- Henry Philip Smith, an Englishman, was murdered by Malays, who are alleged to have attacked him with butcher’s knives and an iron rod. Before he died in hospital he was able to identify the three Malays who had attacked him as workmen who had been discharged from his department in 1932. These men alleged that they had been wrongfully (Iksmisvsed afteir 20 years’ service, and alleged that their petitions had been ignored, and that they were in want.
