MURDER MYSTERY
HAWKE’S BAY CRIME UNSOLVED. (Per Press Association, Copyright). HASTINGS, July 8. The mystery of the mprder of Joan Rose Rattray is apparently no nearer solution than at last week. This morning the police stated the work of taking statements and sifting information contained therein, was still being pursued. Fifty or sixty residents in various parts of the district made statements to the police. Unless some unexpected . clue presents itself, the solution-of-the crime will be reached, if reached at all, only by. a painstaking , analysis of the numerous statements made to the police. Several persons have been interviewed in the belief that they might have had, a connection with the crime, but this brought, no result. The police are far from giving up hope that they will eventually discover a clue from which to carry the investigations to a satisfactory end. , -
