DISTRICT COMMITTEE.

At a meeting of the Grey Racing District Committee held on Friday, the regiet of members was expressed that Air 1). J. Evans, of Hokitika was no longer a member of the Committee. I her chairman and others voiced their .appreciation of the good work dm.e by mi Evans oxer a long period of years, lus knowledge ol racing and racing laws ; being of valuable assistance , to racing and the members of the committee.

The following licenses were approved: Trainers’ licenses: C- J- 'Valsh, E. Kingan, J, Stewart (Greymouth), A. B. Spiers (Kuimira), T. L. Smith (Westport), A. J. Griffen (Reefton)j Jockeys’- licenses; AY. E. Shand, V. A. Lee, C. J. Walsh; Apprentice’s license: L. L. Harding. The Racing Conference advised that the following representatives had been appointed to the District Committee, i:i addition to the Greymouth Jockey Club represntatives: Alessrs C. H. Thomas, W. B. Gilbert, A. E. Kilgour, F. AlcGregor and E. AV. Spencer. The Greymouth Jockey Club representatives aie Alessrs T. E. Coates, A. Beban, C. L. Kettle and AA 7 . T. Parfitt. The Conference submitted ,a list oi trainers and jockeys'who had not yet made applications for the renewal ot the licenses, pointing out that a late application would make the subject to a fine.

At a meeting of the Grey Jockey Club, the Kumara Racing Club was assured that in no circumstances, would the Greymouth Jockey Club utilise the Easter Saturday date on Easter Mondny, in the event of a postponement from the Saturday being necessary.
