WAITAKI DAM
INTERESTING STAGE REACHED. WAITAKI DAM, July 3. Work at the Waitaki dam has now reached one of the most interesting stages since the dam was officially opened towards the end of last year. The construction staff is busily engaged on the final stages of the actual work on the dam. .This includes sealing the remaining temporary sluicegates, which is one of the. major opto lie completed ; and the removal of most of the superstructure used in the earlier 'work. To enable this to be done, it was necessary to reduce the level of water above the dam. and now, for the first time since the gates were closed in September, the water has dropped to such a low level that there is none flowing over the crest of the dam at all.
