A NEW VALVE. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright). BERLIN, June 25. The German Tdefuiikeu Company announces the success of experiments that were begun, by it in 19133 with decimetre waves namely, waves from ten decimetres to one metre, The experiments are now far advanced. The Company claims that these waves can be transmitted in a straight line to a. given destination without the possibility of being detected by anyone outside of the line of transmission and that they also are immune from atmospheric and other intefcrences. The waves will .be of immense value in wartime. The'Company state that even if the decimetre waves of the same wave length arc used by different stations, interference cian be eliminated by turning the apparatus in the required direction. The Telefuukcn Company further announce a new valve known as the magnetion. It is a gridless valVe, and is no bigger than a man’s thumb. It ha.s solved certain reception problems. A demonstration to-day showed that the decimetre waves can lie used to t soi't, mi guiding ships and aeroplanes by the craft keeping in the path of a directed ray.
