U.S.. POLICE CORRUPTION. (United Press Association— By Electro Telegraph-Copyright) VANCOUVER, June 24. Ever since Edward Bremer's family woi-e held up for 200,000 dollars ransom hv St. ’Paul kidnappers, United States Government police have been quic-kly invesnigating the St. Paul Police Department. To-day the Chief of Police Michael Cuiligan. and eight of his leading officers were dismissed. , Some of those dismissed will he prosecuted for a “startling connection between police and gamblers conducting a racehorse lottery on a large scale.” There is also alleged a sensational illicit connection between police and lawyers specialising in criminal cases, and with organised prostitution, also a tip off system on raids.
