FLOODS RECEDE

NAPIER, June 6.
The weather has cleared and the rivers are receding. There was little damage. The new Tutaekiiri diversion works operated most satisfactorily. All the main highways arc expected to he open by midday.

It was announced to-day that Sir Alfred Ransom was making a very good recovery, and it is hoped he will be able to resume hi.s official duties some time next week.
