EVE INJURED BY ACID

Through splashing hydrochloric acid in his eye while doing soldering work at h>s home yster'day morning, an engineer, Mr Albert Edmonds, aged (50, married, suffered painful -injuries to the eye. He was taken to the Auckland Hospital.

Serious scalds-.to the back and arms were suffered by a bush contractor, Mr Sydney Thomas, aged 54, married, when a log-hauler, which he was operating at Greenhithg yesterday morning, capsized. There was .no cap on the radiator and boiling water splashed over Mr Thomas.
POLL DISPUTE
WAIPUKIIRAU, June 6
An inquiry into the question of whether the recent poll to determine the Saturday closing day in AVaipiikurau should be declared void, was heard to-day before the Magistrate (Mr Miller), a petition having been signed by ten electors, and been opposed, by certain others. Following lengthy argument, the Magistrate announced that he would give a written decision at an early date.
