COURT DRESSES
USE OF THE MAKERS’ NAMES
LONDON, May 29
Sir Arnold Wilson criticises the custom of printing dressmakers’ names in conjunction with Court debutantes. He expresses the opinion that such an association with extravagance depreciates the value of the presentation at Court and urges that presentation should be less formal arid wasteful ana more intimate, even it' more exclusive.
Sir Arnold adds: “A few words from the King and Queen to a debutante would be a lifelong possession.”
