Five thousand telephone lines connected with the Wellington Exchange were affected late this afternoonj when a fault in the dialling tone apparatus threw the system out of gear for 10 minutes.. The. disruption occurred, at 4.40 p.m.,. the normal service being reestablished at 4.00 p.m. Dom news. ■—?
WELLINGTON BURGLARY CHARGE
WELLINGTON, May 31
In connection with the brea,king and entering of- a store at Firamnr, and an assault on the proprietor, Furness, early yesterday (morning, Henry Honicb Smith, 35, labourer, appeared before Mr Mosley, 'S-M- to-day, and wos remanded for a webk on a charge of breaking, entering and stealing- tobacco, cigarettes and about ' £1 in cash, the total value being £3O.
