GOLD DISAPPEARS

Bulion worth five thousand pounds, consigned from the goldfields of Central Australia has been reported missing from tbe mail vau of the Alice iSprings-Quorn train. A fortnight ago six hundred ounces of gold was conveyed from Tennant’s Creek, under police escort, to the railhead at Alice Springs. Upon the arrival of the train in Quorn early in the morning from Alice Springs, the bullion i was missing, together with the mailbag in which it was carried.
