BOROUGH AFFAIRS

HOKITIKA COUNCIL MEETING. The Borough Council met last evening when there were present the Mayor (Mi- (i. A. Perry), and Cr s T. AV. Dull, J. King, J. A. Cuttance, E. Teichelmann, A. 0. Armstrong, A. Thompson and G. Heinz. Apologies were received from Crs. I). P. Stuart and Elooek.

Inward Correspondence. Mrs E. Haddock made application for a domestic water supply to her residence, in Stafford Street. —Approved. The Westland Cool Storage and Dairy Co., wrote regarding supply of water by meter.—Received and held over. The N.Z. Alpine and Bock Garden Society wrote asking whether the Council had suitable situations for two rare plants. It was decided to reply in the affirmative.

The Oppenheimer Casing Co., wrote asking for the total killing at the abattoirs from October 1, 1933 to September 30, 1934.—Received. The N.Z. Railways Department advised it had adopted the agreement made between th e Government and the Wellington City Council, in repect to rates on Crown properties occupied by weekly, monthly, or quarterly tenants.—Received.

A. R. Elcock made application for consent to plan of sub-division of section part 854, and section 855. Approved J. M. Schroder wrote drawing attention to the footpath in Sewell Street between Park and Hampden Streets. On the motion of Cr. King it was decided the footpath he raised. Receipts amounted to £4BB/1/7, and expenditure to £832/13/7. There was a credit of £54/1/3 in the district fund account. Accounts amounting to £289 C/2 were passed for payment.

Two tenders were received for the cartage of metal for Hoffman Street, that of Mr Coyle being accepted. It was decided to repair a 44 foot section of the Sin main in Hampden Street with steel cement-lined piping. The Council decided to proceed with the extension of the Sewell Street water system to Tudor Street, to enable house connections to be made
