WELLINGTON, December 10
On board the Makurn is Colonel Tsen Shao Chin of the Chinese Army, who has been making a world tour. He is a product of German and French military schools, and took part in the hostilities with Japan. He expressed the hope that there would be peace between China and Japan. He said that the Chinese did not want to be the aggressors. They only wanted to be able to defend themselves in any outbreak of war.
He will spend two weeks in Australia, before proceeding to China. He was in Germany but did not see Hitler, but did see Mussolini when in Italy, and was much impressed with the dictator. Colonel Chiu has been absent from China for nine months, learning much about various countries.
