HEAT WAVE IN WEST AUSTRALIA

SYDNEY, December 10,
The eastern coast of Australia, from .Brisbane (to Melbourne, was lashed by a gale accompanied by extensive rain last evening, causing heavy damage to crops.
Five inches of rain fell in less than an hour m the Clarence river district, while, in the Casino river district, homos were flooded when creeks overflowed. % Western Australia, on the other hand, is experiencing a heat wave, tlie temperature in Perth yesterday being 103 degrees.
