AIR MAIL SERVICE

BRISBANE, December 10

A big crowd saw Prince Henry send off the first Australian-England air mail, after handing the last bag of mail to pilot L. Brain, and cutting the ribbon releasing the plane. The last package to be delivered was a photograph of the Prince taken at the aerodrome. The mail included letters of greeting from Prince Henry to the King and Queen, and official letters from the Australian Government to the Prime Minister and others in England. Prince Henry expressed pleasure at having the opportunity of performing a ceremony so full of signficance to Australia and the Empire. He said : “1 now inaugurate the Australia-Eng-land air mail service, and wish it success.”
