The river at the wharf appears to bo getting shallower day by day. At low water last evening there was hardly a loot of water in places, and the dry shingle was exposed to within a few feet. It would appear that if no improvement occurs, the draught of vessels using the port will he limited to the amount of rise and jail of the tides, or even less, a feature would have a very unsatisfactory effect on the amount of shipping to come to the port. As it is every vessel while loading is a fixture on the hard, as the tide runs out, and no movements can be made except at the top of the tide.
