The foreword 'to the i 934 , issue oi “Jane’s Fighting Ships” demands the non-curtailment of cruiser strength, whatever the outcome of the Washington limitation discussion. “Of all the dangerous, and useless conceivable economics, the neglect ot cruiser defence is the most reprehensible. Neither has it helped the cause of peace, nor brought national bene<‘Our hands are tied. The 'London treaty provides for neither quality nor quantity. We are able to-build the ships needed without violating its causes.”
