£SOO N.S.W. TOURNAMENT (Australian Press Association.) SYDNEY, December 7. The American golfers were prominent to-day in the Lakes Open Championship, over seventy q-two holes, which carries £SOO in prize money. There were seventy-two entrants, but j. Ezar has not appeared. Thirty-six holes were played to-day, thirty-six more . being played to-morrow. HCooper (United S ates) who had a record round of 69 in the afternoon, and W. Bolger (Sydney), with 70. led the field at the end of to-day’s play. The American, Craig Wood, did splendidly in the morning despite blustery conditions, with 70-3 r out, and 33 home, the latter being four under par. He p’ayed flawless golf. The leaders are: W. Bolger (Sydney 1 73-70, H. Cooper 74,69, Craig Wood 70-76, Runyan (U.S.A.) 73-71, Kirkwood (11.5. A. 75-71, M. Kelly (Australia) 72-76, Laffoon (U.S.A.) V.' Richardson (Australia) 74-74, J. Thompson (U.S.A. 1 72-77, Shute "(U.S.A.) 76-73, Diegel (U.S.A.) 76-75.
