Jack Hulbert and Grade Fields were beaten by George Arliss, Clark Gable, Wallace Beery, Clive Brook, Robert Montgomery and Ronald Caiman among ftlic men, bind bv Nonna Shearer, the late Marie Dressier, Greta Garbo, Kay Francis, Marlene Dietrich land Katharine Hepburn amonJ the women. Norma Shearer, last year’s “champion,” is still at the top, but Greta Garbo had risen to third place. George Arlifls displaced Ronald Coleman at the head of the men. Male “fans” no to see MJprfeno Dietrich, Kay Francisand Jean Harlow, while women are attracted by Greta Garbo and Katharine Hepburn. Curiously enough, jvhilc Greta Garbo is the third most popular, she is also the second “best-hated” star, having Mffo West, Jean Harlow and Joan Crawford as her companions in unpopularity.
