N.Z. DOCTOR FINED

OPERATION ON N.S.W. HORSES. (Australian Press Association). SYDNEY, May 2. On the eve of his return to New Zealand, after .having operated on the racehorses Deep Regret and Koda Pen, to cure them of “roaring,” Dr W. C. Ring was subpoenaed to attend tile Central Summons Court to-day. The information contained in the subpoena deals .with that section of the regulations requiring any person to be registered by the Veterinary Surgeons’ Board of Now South Wales before in this State. Dr Ring’s solicitor, asking that no conviction should he recorded, under a special 'section of the 'Act, said that the operations were .performed solely owing to a lifelong friendship between Dr Ring and Mr J. T. Jamieson. Similar operations, he said, had been performed in New Zealand with successful results.

The Magistrate declined to release the defendant, Saying that he (defendant) knew the law and he had accepted a fee, for the operations. Ring was fined £3 and costs.
